Alexander Maklary explores notions of identity and conformity through sculptural form. Primarily using ceramic material, Maklary demonstrates the flexibility and restraint of manipulation. His ongoing series Constraint questions the influence of internal commotion over reactions to an external environment.
Alexander Maklary was born in Fullerton, California. He is currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Art (Ceramics) at RMIT University, Melbourne. Recent exhibitions include; FRESH!, Craft Victoria, 2014; For The Vogel's, Brunswick Street Gallery, 2014; Close to Two Hundred, RMIT University, 2013; and Breakfast Club, Craft Victoria, 2012. In 2013 Maklary was awarded both the Walker Ceramics and Clayworks Excellence in Ceramics Award.
