Stanton Cornish-Ward is a Melbourne based fashion design practitioner, currently undertaking her final year in a Bachelor of Design (Fashion) (Honours) at RMIT University. She uses fashion design as a conceptual framework to examine and question the cultural and social bias of clothing. Her work explores themes such as gender identity through the creation of gender neutral garments; and aspects of psychology to analyse clothing as a form of emotional protection.
Interested in the depth of fashion as visual language, she employs installation and film to re-contextualise her work. She was recently awarded Best New Talent at Copenhagen Fashion Film Festival 2016 for The Immaculate Reflection of an Impure World. The film has also shown at Roma Web Fest, 2015.
