Gian Manik's paintings embrace reflections within reflecting themselves. Engaging conceptual ideas of representation and self-portraiture, Manik draws parallels between the function of the mirror and perceptions of reality.
Gian Manik completed a Master of Fine Arts at Monash University, Melbourne in 2012. He has completed residencies at Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and Artspace Sydney. Recent solo exhibitions include; Foils, Utopian Slumps, 2014; Big Recorder, Alaska Projects, 2013; Retreat to Representation, Venn Gallery, 2012; Decorative Backings, Artbeat, 2011; and Heinous Armani, with Thomas Jeppe, TCB Art Inc, 2011. Manik's work is held in public and private collections both locally and abroad, notably the Art Gallery of Western Australia and Artbank.
